To whom it may Concern,

I have known Saowanee (Nao) Sangkara since her sophomore year at Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) in 1996. At that time I was teaching her a course in British and American Culture. I was strongly impressed by her thoughtfulness and perceptiveness in understanding cultural issues. She was very cooperative in the class and could be relied upon to contribute her original ideas in the class. Her classmates were similarly impressed by her ability to see different perspectives and to share her point of view with the class. These characteristics have fully blossomed in the years since then.

When Saowanee studied Advanced Poetry with me the next year, her sensitivity and depth of expression became clearer. Her perceptiveness of the world and concept of what is important in the world were remarkable. While her English essays at that time could sometimes be rather difficult to understand, strong insight always emerged from her works.

When Saowanee studied in my media analysis class she further developed the profoundness of her thought and the clarity of her vision. Her critical thinking skills and understanding of complex issues excelled during her final semester (1999) at SWU. There were times when the whole class sat listening to her speak, always asking, "Did you think that by yourself?" The answer was "yes," as it became increasingly evident that she was a very creative and original thinker.

Ten years have passed since Saowanee left university. During those years she has been adventurous, to say the least. She has pursued alternative education in The United States, hosted various mud building workshops in Thailand, launched numerous social and artistic endeavours, managed a children’s village and school in Kanjanaburi and made many friends from around the world. She has a deep love of nature and is strongly pursuing the values of a quality life close to nature and in harmony with others.

I wholeheartedly recommend Saowanee for graduate studies in alternative education. She will provide essential elements to her fellow students and bring a great deal of experience and colour to the classroom. Please contact me if further information is needed.

Best Regards,
